What is Amazon Prime Day?
Amazon Prime Day is like Black Friday for Prime members, but better for certain products. Amazon says it will be offering over a million special deals during Prime Day to all Prime members, a significant increase over the previous years’ deals.
Not surprisingly, some of the best deals on Amazon Prime Day will be on Amazon products like Amazon Echo,Kindle, Echo Show, and Amazon Music Unlimited, or Amazon Services like Audible
(with this link get a 30 day free trial and 2 free audiobooks). You are better off waiting for Black Friday deals on appliances, cookware, designer items, and cookware.
When is Amazon Prime Day 2018?
Amazon Prime Day is a bit longer this year starting at Monday, July 16, 2018 at 3:00pm EST and ending at Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 3:00am EST.
What if You Don’t Have a Prime Membership?
If you are not currently signed up for Prime, no worries. There are options!
- Sign up for a free 30 day trial here. Just remember to cancel before the 30 days are up or you’ll be charged.
- If you are a student with an .edu email address, click here to get a 6 month free trial, and then 50% off the normal subscription price.
I rely on my Prime membership so frequently that I can’t imagine not having it. The ease of free 2 day shipping on millions of product is a gamechanger and makes my annual $99 subscription fee worth it several times over. It also offers access to a huge library of streaming movies and TV shows.
What are Lightning Deals?
Lightning Deals are offered year round and can give you great deals on many products but they are only offered for a short period of time (hence the name). You must buy any lightning deal within 15 minutes of putting it in your cart, otherwise, it goes back so someone else can buy it. If you see something you like that’s not on sale yet, click on the “Watch This Deal” button to get notified when the sale begins.
How Do You See Upcoming Prime Day Deals
Upcoming Deals will give you a quick visual on the products going on sale and the start time. The special sale price will not be displayed until the item actually goes on sale. There are early access deals available now.
Amazon Prime Day items are available to see starting today, July 9, 2018. Click on Prime Early Access Deals to see them now.
I love this feature: you can get amazing deals with Add-On items by adding them onto an existing order over $25. Try searching for Add On Items here.
Prepare Ahead of Time
Unless you have amazing impulse shopping control, it is a good idea to create a list of items that you might need for the upcoming year (think birthdays, holidays, school shopping, etc). Then you can watch for those items and not get caught up in the whirlwind of deals. Amazon makes this easy with their “Add to List” function under each “Buy Now” button.
There are some great sites that monitor prices for you so you know you’re getting a good deal. Try www.ranktracer.com or www.camelcamelcamel.com.
